Looking dumb

Update time

So after amish camp time we rode straight north east over Philly.
Pensylvania pvobed to be a huge pain as it just kept getting more and
more congested with hills. The next night we camped out in a massive
state park and pretended we where pretty sneaky got on the road
early. Crossed into jersey over the deleware and enjoyed the best
apple pie in the whole world. Picked up the train from boundbrook nj
and got dumped out at Penn station in NYC. Confused about what to do
next we decided to ride to times square where we found critical mass!
( a peacefull bike protest that clogs the streets with bikes once a
month).

WTF

That's never happened before

Had to ride far past sundown and resorted to asking people if it was
ok to use their land for our evening stay. Got recomended to an amish
farm and they let us use a clearing of theirs :)

Eh. Almost 900 miles :)

DC Magic

Washington TIme With John Jones!!!

so... since our last post,

stopped over in Tappahannock and swapped out my trailer for all new gear, front rack and larger panniers, glad to get rid of the thing after it has let us down a good handful of times. packed those on and rode upstream a ways to our worst camping site ever, the wooded median of highway 17, what a poor choice...

anywhooo, on to yesterday, we rode about 80 miles from our campsite, into outer dc area and took the metro down to where all the magic happens, (the metro is fun with a bike and a trailer...)

just as we where exiting, a guy rolled by on a nice looking bike and we mentioned that we should have asked him where to go and he rode off, well about 15 seconds later he rode back and asked us if we needed some help. turns out that person was a Mr. John Jones, a architecture masters student from scad that is interning downtown!!!! what are the chances, the guy took us all around the city, we went out to dinner, and then crashed on an air matress at his place, and while we where sleeping, he did our laundry! its like Christmas! what a nice guy!!! what are the chances?

well, off we go to explore the Smithsonian and roam around :)

Day thirteen. Camp time once more

Sorry to have kept you waiting dear readers. We've had some serious
delays and frustrations over the past few days.

Got off the god forsaken outer banks on Tuesday. Worst mosquitoes and
camping yet so far. As we where making camp that night noticed ian
trailer had broken and needed to be welded. Just so happens we where
camping only a mile from the home of grave digger the monster truck.
Next day rode to the diggers dungeon where grave digger breathed hell
fire on the trailer and fixed it. Rode twenty more miles to moyock nc
where yet again owns trailer let us down by the axel breaking.
Couldn't get it fixed till morning, so ended up pushing the boken rig
to the back yard of the fire house where we camped. The fire house let
us look at the trucks up close and personal. Monster and fire trucks
in the same day.

Got the axel fixed early and rode to portsmonth Virginia. As we where
getting up to the James river bridge came to find out no bikes allowed
on bridge. Luckily the bridge is so long there is a tow truck on call
24 hours a day. Got eddy and his flat bed to lift us over the bridge.
I haven't ridden I'm a car for two weeks and doing 45 mph freaked the
he'll outta me.
Found our selves on the far south side of new port news at 7:30 so
opted for a hotel. The worst ramada inn I've ever stayed at. The whole
thing smelt of piss and death.

Yet another small trailer issue set our deperture from new port news
back to nearly 2 oclock. Quikly stopped off in yorktown to check out
some cannons and siege lines which was very neat. Made our way across
another large bridge to where ever it is we are now.

It's been an adventure dear readers. Stay tuned for more exciting
updates.

Just hanging out on a cannon in Yorktown where cornwallace surrendered

No big deal.

Nothing like fresh camp stove cooked food in a good ole ramada inn

Day 7

Jason here making his first post.

We have not updated in quite a while due to unforsceen circumstances.

Long story short. We headed out of savannah with a less than water
tight tent, which led to massive amounts of discomfort on day5. Rode 8
miles through the rain to a gas station that was serving $3.79
breakfast with a side of insanity. Definitely the low point of the trip.

After two hours trying to dry and rebuild our spirits we got back on
the bikes for 23 more miles of rain riding. Which dropped us in
wilmington nc. By far the most interesting town we've been to but it
doesn't take a lot to beat sc.

Found a laundromat - bar called " the soap box" where we washed and
dried all our stuff. I met this rad girl who sorts grew up in Nebraska
same as I, small world. At the soap box met a guy named gary who let
us stay at his house. A beaute that he restored himself.

After a solid and dry nights rest made it about 40 miles out side
Wilmington to surf city nc.

Quickly running out of day light and having absolutly no luck finding
a camp sight we broke down and asked a man if we could camp in his
yard. He said he was actually a renter but didn't mind. Turns out the
man name was john. John and his family as well as his friend joe and
his family where renting for a week. Joe himself is an avid cyclist
and graciously offered us a shower and bathroom as well as letting us
wash our dishes on there sink.

About it for now. Stay watchful dear readers. Much more to come as we
begin riding the outer banks tomorrow.

Day four forms into five

Been super busy, hence the lack of updates

Riding yesterday was really tough. Woke up in Andrews to the sound of
monsterous lawn mowers. It was like ferngully. So we packed up quick
and skipped breakfast. Big mistake felt it all day. Lots of scary
dogs today. Thank god for air horns. Took a swim in the great pee dee
river ( ha. Funny name) then came to Conway and grabbed our
groceries. Had a horribe time finding a campsite and ended up
asking around in a church parkinglot. Turned out to a great idea.
Stayed the night in greg and jackies back yard and enjoyed some
cookies andcold water :). Thanks a ton guys! Off we go to north
carolina!

We are here tonight

Todays end. The first of many to come

We left the house around 9:30 in Erins passat and got dropped off at
abandoned fire works stand. Said our goodbyes and headed down the
nastiest stretch of road ever. Luckily it quickly cleared up and the
rest of today roads have. Been great with the exception of bad
markings and poor name choices. How many 17 s does a state need.
Got turned around because of this and wasted about an hours Ride. All
the gear has been great tons of little stops today for adjustments
and getting everything perfect for days to come. Most notable fix was
my trailer such at the start of today handled like a complete pig,
kinds scary actualy but after checking it over and tightening a goof
handfull of loose bolts rides like a dream had lunch at wendys.
It was delicious. And fresh watermellon from a farmers market. Lots
of curious and very nice onlookers. The flags are doing their job :).
Some dogs ran after us. Jason sounded off the fog horn and they went
running :). Set up camp cooked a great meal and now here we are.
Hope tomorrow goes as well as today.
