We have not updated in quite a while due to unforsceen circumstances.
Long story short. We headed out of savannah with a less than water
tight tent, which led to massive amounts of discomfort on day5. Rode 8
miles through the rain to a gas station that was serving $3.79
breakfast with a side of insanity. Definitely the low point of the trip.
After two hours trying to dry and rebuild our spirits we got back on
the bikes for 23 more miles of rain riding. Which dropped us in
wilmington nc. By far the most interesting town we've been to but it
doesn't take a lot to beat sc.
Found a laundromat - bar called " the soap box" where we washed and
dried all our stuff. I met this rad girl who sorts grew up in Nebraska
same as I, small world. At the soap box met a guy named gary who let
us stay at his house. A beaute that he restored himself.
After a solid and dry nights rest made it about 40 miles out side
Wilmington to surf city nc.
Quickly running out of day light and having absolutly no luck finding
a camp sight we broke down and asked a man if we could camp in his
yard. He said he was actually a renter but didn't mind. Turns out the
man name was john. John and his family as well as his friend joe and
his family where renting for a week. Joe himself is an avid cyclist
and graciously offered us a shower and bathroom as well as letting us
wash our dishes on there sink.
About it for now. Stay watchful dear readers. Much more to come as we
begin riding the outer banks tomorrow.
